Rivers and things

Another couple of weeks that have flown by, here we are in August already......

We have been pretty busy as always on the Frome, stocking, weed cutting, and mowing, keeping everything looking smart.

We are pleased to be doing some more chalk stream restoration work with Kingcombe Aquacare on the river Avon, (I have never seen so many large Chub).

The day tickets for the DFC have run out for this season, the ruling is that only 45 tickets can be issued, due to the standard of the fishery they seem to go fairly quickly, so you had better get your tickets booked for the 2010 season.

Saturday we had a cracking days weed cutting on the river Allen, a great number of members turned out on a particularly wet and dark day, they were so good at removing all the cut weed we had a job cutting enough to keep them busy, a big thank you to all involved.

We made a serious bit of chalk stream fishable again.........

On a warmer dryer note I have just received an e mail from Rodney out in the Florida Keys attaching a photograph of a Hammerhead Shark of over a THOUSAND pounds caught and released by regular angler Lee Jasper earlier this year.

Look at the size of that dorsal..... a 1000lb+ Hammerhead

The fishing out there is quiet unbelievable, this picture was followed by another e mail offering some great deals.

Hi John

Just to let you know of deals and offers, we have cut our prices on some weeks to just £85 per person per day for b+b car and boat based on four sharing to get the feel good factor back in this current hard time and with the less than summery weather, people need to contact me phone or email for me to explain the details, some pics to wet appetites.

Cheers
